We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to join our team and oversee all safety and compliance-related matters.

Job Summary:

The Safety & Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety, training and compliance programs within the transportation company and our 4 locations on the Northeast. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of transportation regulations, industry best practices, and be committed to fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Safety & Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, minimize risks, and promote a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement company-wide safety and compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Create and implement an extensive training program. 
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with safety and training regulations, policies, and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement and implementing corrective measures
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety protocols, identifying and addressing any deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, including but not limited to driver safety, emergency response, and accident prevention.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and compliance activities, including driver files, incident reports, training records, inspections, and audits
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor safety and compliance performance, analyze data, and prepare reports for management.
  • Foster a safety-conscious culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) working in a safety and compliance role within the transportation industry.
  • Must have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement 
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, including but not limited to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Strong understanding of safety management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance auditing techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs on safety and compliance topics.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to travel as required to various company locations and regulatory meetings.

Pay: $80,000 - $90,000
